Krill Systems is currently introducing a first in the boating industry, an all inclusive vessel monitoring system. This waterproof unit allows the user to keep tabs on critical yacht functions (pump, hatches, generator, shore power, fresh water, etc) using a single screen.

Working closely with seven02 design , I provided the engineering and manufacturing know how to compliment their industrial design direction. With electronics provided by the client, I designed the housings, gaskets, and keypads necessary for the final assembly. The main mechanical challenge was keeping such an expensive computing device waterproof, while allowing its various antennas access to the outside world. The design allows for multiple configurations inside the cabin.

Utilizing prototyping facilities in Georgia, injection molders in China, and keypad suppliers in Korea, costs were kept very low. I reviewed all preproduction parts and samples, documenting and requesting changes.
